Master Technician - BYD Electric Mobility

About the role

Al-Futtaim Automotive, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, is hiring a Master Technician for its BYD service center in the UAE. The role combines advanced diagnostic and repair expertise with direct customer interaction, from booking to vehicle handover, and aims for first-time fix rates and high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full customer journey from service booking and appointments to handover and invoicing.
• Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, periodic maintenance and accessory fitment according to BYD repair manuals and standards.
• Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve faults efficiently.
• Follow the Fix It Right (FIR) process to meet first-time repair targets.
• Handle work orders, including warranty, goodwill, leasing and insurance documentation.
• Maintain accurate Electronic Vehicle Checks (EVC) and technical reports.
• Keep workshop tools and diagnostic equipment maintained and calibrated.
• Support workshop productivity and delivery within promised timelines.
• Adhere to HSSE, 5S and BYD quality standards, and mentor junior technicians.

Required profile

• IMI Light Vehicle Master Technician (Level 3-4) or equivalent.
• Advanced OEM certification such as Diagnostic Master, Gold Technician, Level 3 or equivalent.
• 6-7 years of experience as a light vehicle technician and 2 years as a diagnostic technician.
• Experience in a customer-facing automotive service environment or as a Service Advisor is highly desirable; dealership experience preferred.
• Valid UAE driving licence.

Required skills

• Advanced vehicle diagnostics and fault finding, and use of OEM diagnostic systems and special service tools.
• Understanding of automotive electrical, mechanical and electronic systems, and interpretation of wiring diagrams and repair manuals.
• Warranty procedures, repair processes and dealer management systems.
• Customer-facing communication and ability to explain technical issues clearly.
