Material Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Material Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team, responsible for ensuring that all construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards. The role involves testing, documentation, and coordination with contractors and sub‑consultants to maintain full material traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct tests on asphalt, concrete, and soil and keep accurate testing logs.
• Identify, document, and track material non‑conformances; prepare compliance and certification documentation.
• Monitor material deliveries, review mix designs, and verify calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate sampling and testing activities with contractors and support audits with proper records.
• Review contractor material submittals, secure approvals, and ensure only approved materials are used.
• Act as the focal point on‑site for scheduling, controlling, and tracking construction materials and related equipment.
• Perform site inspections to confirm compliance with contract specifications.
• Oversee sub‑consultants responsible for material testing and maintain project material records.
• Prepare daily reports, diaries, and other project documentation as required.
• Identify potential material‑related issues, propose solutions, and report risks to the supervisor.
• Collect, review, and file Certificates of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags, and other material‑related documents.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and contribute to safety and quality‑control procedures.

Required profile

• Proven ability to conduct material testing on asphalt, concrete, and soil.
• Experience preparing compliance, certification, and safety documentation.
• Strong coordination skills with contractors, sub‑consultants, and internal teams.
• Attention to detail in maintaining accurate logs, records, and traceability.
• Capability to perform engineering calculations and produce technical charts.
