MDI CRA Pipe Laying Barge Inspector

About the role

Bureau Veritas do Brasil is hiring a full-time MDI CRA Pipe Laying Barge inspector in Abu Dhabi. The role covers quality inspection of Corrosion-Resistant Alloy (CRA) pipe-laying barges, including vendor document review, witnessing hydrostatic and pneumatic tests, approving welds and NDT work, and producing weekly and monthly inspection reports.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and apply Vendor / Manufacturer quality system requirements
• Review and verify manufacturer and vendor documents against purchase orders, material specifications and project specs
• Carry out material receiving inspection of all permanent project material supplied by the EPC contractor
• Witness and verify procedure and welder qualifications; witness hydrostatic and pneumatic testing
• Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans, material certificates, welding procedures, NDT reports and PWHT work
• Monitor, inspect and approve welding, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pressurised piping and structural works during fabrication
• Inspect surface preparation, painting and insulation
• Raise non-conformance reports and verify corrective and preventive actions
• Prepare concise weekly and monthly inspection reports

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Welding or Metallurgical Engineering
• Minimum 12 years' experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas / petrochemical industry, third-party inspection and verification of welding, process piping, mechanical equipment, painting, coating, wrapping and hydro testing
• Ability to assess NDT procedures and review multidiscipline ITPs, site queries, NCRs and concession requests
• Very good spoken and written English, including technical reports, procedures and QA/QC documentation
• Proven experience liaising with EPC contractors and CRA pipe-laying barges

Required skills

• CSWIP 3.2, AWS-Sr, CWI or ERS welding inspection and PCN level II desirable
• BGAS Level 2 or NACE Level 1 certification
• Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO and BS codes
• Computer literacy
