Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Engineer – UAV

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Engineer to lead the design, integration, and validation of critical mechanical systems for UAV platforms. The role combines advanced 3D modelling, analysis, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration to deliver high‑performance, airworthy solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, integration and validation of landing gear, fuel distribution, ECS, hydraulic circuits and actuation mechanisms.
• Develop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation using CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• Perform structural, hydromechanical and thermal analyses to verify system integrity under operational loads.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs) and bill of materials (BOMs) in line with aerospace standards.
• Support prototype builds, ground tests and flight trials, troubleshooting design issues in real time.
• Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations and defense‑sector quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for performance, manufacturability and maintainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years experience in aerospace mechanical systems design, with expertise in at least three areas: landing gear, fuel systems, ECS, hydraulics, actuation.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD/PLM tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) and strong understanding of GD&T, aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with FEA and CFD tools, and familiarity with standards such as AS9100, MIL‑STD and DO‑160.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status; exposure to EASA Part 21 or GCAA DOA is a plus.
