Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Specialist to lead the design, integration and validation of mechanical systems for UAV platforms, including landing gear, fuel, ECS, hydraulics and actuation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation for airframe systems using CATIA, Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• Perform structural, hydromechanical and thermal analyses to verify system integrity under operational loads.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents and bill of materials in line with aerospace standards.
• Collaborate with avionics, propulsion and flight‑control teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Support prototype builds, ground testing and flight trials, troubleshooting design issues in real time.
• Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations and defense quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement for performance, manufacturability and maintainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace mechanical systems design.
• Proven expertise in at least three areas: landing gear, fuel systems, ECS, hydraulics or actuation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status and exposure to EASA Part 21 or GCAA DOA is advantageous.
• Relevant certifications such as INCOSE ASEP/CSEP or PMP/PRINCE2 are a plus.

Required skills

• 3D CAD tools: CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, SolidWorks.
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system design, fuel system architecture, ECS thermodynamics.
