Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance

About the role

Majid Al Futtaim is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead preventive and corrective maintenance across its retail stores. The role ensures equipment reliability, compliance with service level agreements, and seamless store operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities in coordination with store teams and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct regular store inspections to verify adherence to maintenance schedules, service level agreements, and operational standards.
• Coordinate and monitor maintenance tasks to guarantee timely completion, quality workmanship, and compliance with approved specifications.
• Assess contractor performance, identify service gaps, and drive corrective actions to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
• Manage inventory of consumables and critical spare parts to minimise equipment downtime.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, incidents, and emergencies to ensure business continuity and workplace safety.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, prepare performance reports, and recommend process improvements.
• Support team performance through coaching, training coordination, workforce planning, and adherence to safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of maintenance experience, including at least 1 year in a retail environment.
• Proven ability to plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs while meeting operational standards.
• Experience maintaining accurate asset maintenance records and service histories.
• Strong stakeholder management skills to coordinate activities across multiple departments.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or maintenance certifications are an advantage.
• Excellent communication, organizational, multitasking, problem‑solving, and project management abilities.
