Mechanical Estimator (MEP)

About the role

Group AMANA is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join its growing team. The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical, piping, industrial, infrastructure, utility, oil & gas or fuel-related projects, and is encouraged to apply if they also have a strong piping background and are willing to learn aviation fuel systems.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and BOQs.
• Prepare material take-offs (MTO), quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare technical and commercial bid evaluations.
• Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions and opportunities.
• Support proposal preparation and tender submissions, and coordinate with engineering, procurement and construction teams during bid preparation.

Required profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical estimation and tendering.
• Experience in new-build projects as well as modification, expansion, upgrade or refurbishment projects.
• Experience in mechanical, piping, utility, infrastructure, industrial, oil & gas, fuel farm, storage tank or pipeline projects.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Experience in underground and above-ground piping systems; exposure to valve chambers, utility networks, pump stations and related civil interfaces is an advantage.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ASME, API, ASTM and NFPA.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of RFIs, MTOs, RFQs, BOQs and cost estimation.
• Supplier and subcontractor quotation evaluation.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with Candy Estimation Software is preferred.
