Mechanical Technician – Steam and Gas

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will support the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of heavy rotating machinery used in power generation, primarily steam and gas turbines. Reporting to the Sourcing Director, the role works closely with supervisors, HSE personnel and the operations department to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine correct work procedures.
• Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Move machinery, parts and equipment with hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
• Align machinery using squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment equipment.
• Perform inspections with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, rules and calipers.
• Control tools, equipment and supplies and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in a technical field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience maintaining, dismantling and installing industrial machinery, pumps, motors, fans, generators and turbines.
• Good understanding of latest technology, legal/quality/HSSE requirements and power‑plant operations.
• Willingness to travel, work on international/hardship sites and undertake shift work.
