Melter – Steel Production (EAF/LF/CCM) with DRI

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Melter to join our steel production facility in Abu Dhabi. The role involves operating and maintaining electric arc furnace (EAF), ladle furnace (LF) and continuous casting machine (CCM) processes, primarily using direct reduced iron (DRI). The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient melting operations in line with production targets and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out melter duties assigned by the supervisor according to production requirements.
• Ensure availability of melter machinery, consumables and tools for smooth furnace operation.
• Perform hot repairs of the furnace following work instructions and supervisor guidance.
• Monitor and report any abnormalities during work and seek supervisor guidance.
• Implement health and safety procedures, ensuring all safety devices in furnace and ladle furnace are functional.
• Maintain a clean and obstacle‑free EAF work area.
• Follow operational policies and legislative requirements to deliver cost‑effective, quality steel.
• Respond to emergency situations in coordination with the supervisor.
• Uphold 5S housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Perform steel melting activities in compliance with Emirates Steel QS Program, ASME code and customer specifications.

Required profile

• Higher Secondary/Diploma education (Higher Secondary School/ITI).
• 3–5 years of experience as a Melter in a steel plant, preferably with EAF/LF/CCM production routes using DRI.
• Proven ability to carry out hot repairs and follow detailed work instructions.
• Strong understanding of HSE policies and ability to enforce safety measures.
• Ability to work in a clean, organized environment and follow 5S principles.
• Willingness to cooperate with supervisors during emergencies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EAF, LF and CCM production routes.
• Experience with melting applications using Direct Reduced Iron (DRI).
• Implementation of health and safety procedures in a steel‑making environment.
