About the role
The Merchandise Planner supports and optimises the buying and operational teams to achieve financial goals through accurate planning. The role involves developing demand forecasts, managing inventory, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and providing insights on product performance.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts for key product categories, considering sales trends, seasonal demands, promotions and special events.
- Analyse historical sales data and market trends to create accurate demand models and ensure optimal inventory levels across multiple locations.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent overstocking and stockouts, working with the supply‑chain team to address inventory challenges.
- Collaborate with the buying team to align assortments with customer preferences, regional differences and market trends, planning introductions of new products and phase‑outs of discontinued items.
- Regularly analyse product performance, identify growth opportunities and flag under‑performing SKUs, providing actionable insights to senior management.
- Work with marketing, merchandising and supply‑chain teams to ensure product launches are on schedule and aligned with promotional calendars.
- Support store operations to ensure optimal product placement and inventory allocation in stores and on the Marketplace.
- Assist in financial planning and budgeting related to merchandise performance.
