MOD Examiner – Elevator Safety Specialist

About the role

The MOD Examiner is responsible for performing safety checks, maintenance and minor installations on elevators and escalators at client sites. Working under the guidance of senior adjustors, you will ensure that all equipment meets Otis safety standards and operates smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct safety checks at all points before starting work on site.
• Clean, lubricate and test the over‑speed governor.
• Check and correct static balancing of units and adjust final limits.
• Lubricate and test the Safety Action Mechanism according to procedures.
• Install door skates, set door locks and verify bolt tightness after inspection mode.
• Perform unit safety checks by travelling the car top through the shaft and inspecting for interferences.
• Verify all electrical operations including car doors, buttons and intercom.
• Escalate concerns to the Supervisor and complete NCRs for process infractions.
• Set contact parameters in the controller and put the lift into normal operation.
• Adjust acceleration, deceleration and ride quality to Otis standards.
• Inspect motor pits and escalator steps for debris and clean as required.
• Test escalators by removing comb plates and winding the motor for a full travel cycle.
• Prepare inspection, field test, safety check and audit reports.

Required profile

• Works under the guidance of a Senior Adjustor or Supervisor.
• Willing to travel to client sites and follow strict safety procedures.
