Naval Architect - Weight Control & Stability Support

About the role

Sunreef Yachts is seeking a Naval Architect to join its Naval Architecture Department, focusing on weight control, weight measurements, and stability support across multiple yacht projects. The role blends office‑based engineering tasks with hands‑on involvement at the shipyard, ensuring accurate weight data throughout design, production, and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain weight calculations, reports, and budgets for each project.
• Track weight development against approved lightship weight budgets.
• Conduct regular weight measurements during production.
• Build and maintain a central database of equipment, material, and component weights.
• Collect and coordinate weight inputs from engineering, production, procurement, composite departments, and suppliers.
• Verify production execution against drawings, plans, and composite details relevant to weight control.
• Identify deviations, assess impact on vessel weight, stability, and performance.
• Support stability calculations, performance predictions, and certification‑related analyses.
• Develop procedures, templates, and reporting tools for future projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
• Good understanding of composite materials and yacht construction.
• Experience with weight control, stability, or production follow‑up preferred.
• Strong grasp of naval architecture principles, including stability, hydrodynamics, and basic structural analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, or SolidWorks.
• Advanced Excel skills for calculations, tracking sheets, databases, and reporting.
• Experience using Maxsurf Stability or comparable stability software.
