Occupational Therapist

About the role

The Royal Khalifa City Hospital in Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join its multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The role involves providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients of all ages across a range of speech, language, cognitive‑communicative, voice and swallowing disorders, as well as delivering specialist OT interventions in chronic and home‑care settings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and develop evidence‑based, client‑centered treatment plans for adult and paediatric patients.
• Manage a caseload of complex cases autonomously, applying high‑level problem‑solving and clinical reasoning.
• Supervise less experienced therapists, conduct performance appraisals and provide regular feedback.
• Collaborate with the line manager to set service priorities and contribute to clinical governance and service development.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, communicate effectively with staff, patients, families and external agencies.
• Contribute to education programs for residents, relatives and staff, and stay updated through continuing education.
• Record and report adverse clinical events, support workplace safety initiatives and hazard reporting.
• Assess client needs for equipment and adaptations, and assist in preparing cases for the Equipment and Adaptations Panel.

Required profile

• Registered Occupational Therapist licensed by the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with complex caseloads.
• Experience supervising junior therapists and conducting performance management.
• Strong commitment to professional ethics, clinical governance and continuous learning.
