Onboard Software Solutions Engineer

About the role

The Onboard Software Solutions Team creates, configures and deploys all onboard software for a program or mission, adapting agnostic onboard software to each satellite's architecture and requirements. The role covers development, end-to-end testing and release, and also tackles real-time issues on live missions. It sits within a team building modern automated infrastructure that brings software and space together.

Key responsibilities

• Streamline the creation, integration, validation and release of onboard software by improving test coverage, automating testing and reducing the time from feature development to availability on-orbit.
• Configure standard onboard software components for customer payloads and support their deployment and troubleshooting internally and externally.
• Own and evolve the tools for onboard software creation, versioning, testing and release management, with transparent, up-to-date status tracking for all stakeholders across programs and missions.
• Work closely with the Engineering and Satellite Operations teams to ensure rapid, reliable and thoroughly tested deployments.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Flight Software Engineer, Software Integration Engineer, Software Test Engineer or Software Engineer with a focus on automated testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot and clearly communicate issues and solutions.

Required skills

• Python and C++
• CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, TeamCity or Travis CI
• Automated testing frameworks
• Data serialization/deserialization (YAML, JSON, CUE)
• Nice to have: Embedded Linux operations, build systems (Make, CMake), networking (UDP, TCP, IP), software integration and satellite operations experience
