OP Medical Coder

About the role

The OP Medical Coder is responsible for accurate coding of outpatient medical records in line with regulator guidelines. You will ensure diagnoses and procedures are correctly captured to support billing, reporting, and quality initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assign ICD‑9, ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, DRG and other applicable codes based on physician documentation.
• Validate final diagnoses, operative procedures, and secondary conditions for completeness and accuracy.
• Review and ensure appropriate Evaluation & Management (E&M) levels using CPT codes.
• Provide training and guidance to coding staff and keep them updated on new coding rules.
• Offer constructive feedback to physicians on documentation gaps and coding errors.
• Maintain compliance with HAAD regulations and hospital OSH and infection‑control policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) from AHIMA or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC.
• Strong command of spoken and written English.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ICD‑9, ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG coding systems.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
