Open-Rank Faculty Positions in Media Communication (2 openings)

About the role

The Department of Media Communication at the American University of Sharjah seeks two full‑time, open‑rank faculty members (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) to begin in Fall 2027. The role combines teaching, research, and service within a vibrant, culturally diverse campus.

Key responsibilities

• Teach up to six courses per year (three per semester) across undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Supervise graduate research projects and theses.
• Develop and maintain an active research or creative scholarship agenda.
• Participate in departmental committees and university service activities.

Required profile

• Doctoral or equivalent terminal degree in media and communication studies or a closely related field from an accredited, internationally recognized university.
• For Assistant Professor level: emerging research/creative scholarship agenda.
• For Associate/Full Professor level: established record of scholarly publications or creative work, teaching excellence, and service.
• Demonstrated ability to teach a range of courses such as advertising, public relations, communication theory, journalism, media studies, production, research methods, and social media.
• Commitment to teaching students from diverse cultural and national backgrounds.
