Outpatient Coding Officer

About the role

The Outpatient Coding Officer will accurately translate outpatient and emergency department medical records into standardized ICD‑10‑CM and CPT codes. Working within SEHA Hospital, you will ensure proper charge capture, support revenue cycle activities, and maintain compliance with UAE coding regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assign ICD‑10‑CM and CPT codes to outpatient and ED records using encoder software and online references.
• Validate charges against documentation and apply appropriate modifiers.
• Utilize retrospective edit tools to resolve coding or documentation issues.
• Collaborate with physicians, CDI staff, and revenue cycle teams to clarify ambiguous information.
• Interpret bundling/unbundling (NCCI) guidelines and track documentation gaps.
• Investigate claim denials and support appeals as directed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UAE coding and reimbursement regulations.
• Notify leadership of complex problems and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Special coding certification (required).
• Extensive knowledge of healthcare revenue‑cycle systems.
• Ability to analyze physician and provider documentation.
• Familiarity with UAE regulatory coding agencies and guidelines.
