Outpatient Medical Coder

About the role

We are seeking an Outpatient Medical Coder to join Bareen International Hospital in Abu Dhabi. The role involves reviewing physician documentation and ensuring accurate coding for outpatient encounters.

Key responsibilities

• Review physician documentation, medical records, and outpatient encounters.
• Assign accurate ICD-10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Apply outpatient coding and billing guidelines correctly.
• Validate diagnoses, procedures, modifiers, and medical necessity.
• Identify missing, unclear, or conflicting documentation and escalate queries.
• Ensure accurate sequencing of diagnoses and procedures.
• Review coding edits, denials, and documentation‑related issues.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy targets while complying with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Required profile

• Knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Understanding of outpatient/ambulatory coding guidelines.
• Strong grasp of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Preferred certifications such as CPC, CCS, or CCA.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
• Experience with outpatient coding guidelines.
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR and coding software.
