Outpatient Pharmacist – UAE National

About the role

The Outpatient Pharmacist provides safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications to ambulatory patients across the Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre network in the UAE. The role ensures compliance with Department of Health, JCI, and hospital standards while delivering patient counselling and supporting medication‑safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Review, verify and dispense outpatient prescriptions in line with regulatory and hospital standards.
• Provide accurate patient counselling on medication use, dosing, precautions and storage.
• Maintain optimal patient flow by ensuring timely dispensing and meeting waiting‑time targets.
• Identify and resolve therapeutic duplications, drug interactions and other medication‑related issues.
• Coordinate with physicians and nurses to clarify and optimise medication orders.
• Support medication safety programmes, including LASA management and high‑alert medication guidelines.
• Manage inventory control, monitor expiries and ensure proper storage conditions.
• Document interventions and contribute to quality‑improvement activities.
• Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions and competency assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
• Valid Department of Health (DOH) pharmacy licence.
• Minimum 1–2 years experience in an outpatient or hospital pharmacy setting.
