About the role

The Pastry Commis will support the central kitchen’s pastry production, preparing a variety of sweet treats while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety and hygiene. This entry‑level position is ideal for someone passionate about pastry arts and eager to grow in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare pastries, cakes, desserts, cookies, breads and other baked goods following established recipes.
• Measure, mix and portion ingredients accurately for daily production runs.
• Assist the Pastry Chef with decorating and finishing items.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and the pastry kitchen.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures at all times.
• Store ingredients and finished products properly to preserve freshness.
• Monitor inventory, report shortages or waste, and help receive supplies.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues.
• Support special orders, seasonal menus and new product development.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to meet production targets.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Bakery & Pastry, Culinary Arts or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 12 months of experience in a bakery, pastry or kitchen environment.
• Basic knowledge of pastry preparation techniques and baking methods.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced production setting and flexible to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Good communication, teamwork and a willingness to learn.
