Pastry Commis (Level 1) – Full‑Time

About the role

The Pastry Commis (Level 1) will join the pastry team at Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi, supporting the creation of high‑quality pastries, desserts and bakery items in a luxury hotel environment. This full‑time position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, 5‑star setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing pastries, cakes, breads, desserts and other bakery items following standard recipes.
• Support senior pastry chefs with daily production tasks and buffet, banquet or special‑event setups.
• Maintain consistency in taste, presentation and portion sizes.
• Follow HACCP food‑safety standards and keep the pastry section clean and organized.
• Store, label and rotate products using the FIFO system.
• Operate and maintain pastry equipment safely.
• Help minimise food waste and support cost‑control measures.
• Report equipment faults or safety hazards to supervisors.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality.
• Hands‑on kitchen experience, preferably in a 5‑star or premium hotel.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Pastry preparation and baking techniques.
• Food safety compliance (HACCP).
• FIFO inventory management.
• Operation of pastry equipment.
