Pediatric Emergency Physician

About the role

The Pediatric Emergency Physician will work in the Emergency Department, providing rapid assessment, stabilization and definitive care for children presenting with acute and life‑threatening conditions. This role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage pediatric patients with emergency conditions.
• Perform rapid triage, clinical assessment, stabilization and initiation of emergency treatment.
• Handle emergencies such as respiratory distress, sepsis, shock, seizures, trauma, poisoning, dehydration and acute infections.
• Perform and interpret investigations including laboratory tests, imaging, ECG and other diagnostics.
• Provide resuscitation and emergency interventions, including Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Recognize critically ill patients and coordinate admission, transfer or referral to appropriate specialties or ICU.
• Prescribe medications and treatment plans according to clinical guidelines.
• Communicate diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up plans clearly to parents and caregivers.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in on‑call duties, clinical handovers, morbidity‑mortality reviews and quality‑improvement activities.
• Support teaching and supervision of junior doctors and residents.

Required profile

• Qualified medical professional licensed to practice in the UAE.
• Experience in pediatric emergency care and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to patient safety, documentation standards and continuous improvement.
