Pharmacy Procurement Officer

About the role

The Pharmacy Procurement Officer oversees the professional and administrative direction of procurement services for the hospital pharmacy. This role ensures confidentiality, objectivity, and compliance with industry standards while supporting the pharmacy’s operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Review and process approved orders and requisitions, verifying accuracy, specifications, and need.
• Match packing slips to purchase orders and forward discrepancies to accounts payable.
• Monitor month‑end data for accuracy and submit reports to the Pharmacy Director.
• Maintain effective communication with departmental staff and support pharmacy requirements.
• Resolve price discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices.
• Control inventory, verify computations, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective measures.
• Track inventory levels, mini‑max, stock‑outs, and critical items; expedite shipments as needed.
• Coordinate product returns with vendors and medication handlers.
• Assist the Director of Pharmacy with market trend studies, cost analysis, bid solicitation, and negotiations.
• Oversee storage and distribution, ensuring accurate order picking, packing, and dispatch.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field; Supply Chain Management certification preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in healthcare or pharmacy procurement.
• Knowledge of drug‑use control functions, inventory control, drug storage, distribution, and JCIA standards.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
