Phlebotomist

About the role

The Royal Medical Centre Karama is seeking a qualified Phlebotomist to join its clinical laboratory team. The role involves collecting blood specimens, ensuring patient identification, and maintaining a safe, clean collection environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and skin puncture procedures to collect blood specimens efficiently.
• Identify patients by verifying requisition details against patient identification.
• Select appropriate collection tubes based on test requirements and required volume.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the blood collection room and ensure proper disposal of waste.
• Follow EHS guidelines: use personal protective equipment, conduct risk assessments, report hazards, and manage bio‑hazardous materials safely.

Required profile

• Valid DOH license or exam passed as a Phlebotomist.
• Certificate from an approved Phlebotomy program or a diploma/degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related health field.
• Minimum two years of practical experience in a reputable medical laboratory.
• Fluent in spoken and written English; Arabic desirable.
• Ability to work with automation and IT programs is a plus.
