Platform Administrator GIS

About the role

As a Platform Administrator GIS at AtkinsRéalis Digital GIS, you will ensure the integrity, performance and security of our SQL Server databases, server infrastructure and GIS services, supporting critical data and applications across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise SQL Server databases, implement backup/recovery, performance tuning and data quality controls.
• Collaborate with the GIS team to optimise database structures, queries and GIS applications.
• Develop and enforce information‑security policies (ISO 27001, NIST), conduct vulnerability assessments and manage firewalls, IDS and access controls.
• Administer server and virtualisation environments (VMware, Windows Server), configure network devices and ensure system availability.
• Provide technical support, troubleshoot hardware/software issues and manage user accounts and permissions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of hands‑on experience in SQL Server administration, information security and system administration.
• Proven experience with Azure cloud services, SAN and backup solutions, and operating‑system hardening.

Required skills

• SQL Server, Azure RDBMS, NoSQL databases.
• VMware, Windows Server, networking, SAN storage.
• PowerShell, Bash scripting.
• Geospatial libraries: GeoPandas, Shapely, Rasterio, Fiona, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy.
• Big data processing: Apache Spark / PySpark (geospatial extensions a plus).
• Kubernetes, micro‑services architecture (optional).
• ESRI solution installation and configuration.
• Industry certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA A+, Network+.
• Security frameworks: ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
