PMC Specialist Technical Safety Engineer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Safety Specialist to provide safety engineering expertise across design, construction, commissioning and operational readiness phases of major offshore or onshore projects under a PMC framework.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate technical safety and loss‑prevention activities across all project phases, ensuring compliance with client specifications, regulatory requirements and international standards.
• Review and verify implementation of technical safety requirements in design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start‑up, and approve safety‑related deliverables such as philosophies, design basis documents and calculations.
• Conduct and support hazard identification and risk assessment studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Bowtie and fire‑explosion analyses.
• Provide technical guidance on inherently safer design, ALARP demonstrations and mitigation of major accident hazards, and monitor contractor performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Safety or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in technical safety, process safety or loss‑prevention within oil & gas, petrochemical or energy sectors.
• Proven experience in a specialist technical safety role for major offshore or onshore projects, preferably within a PMC, EPC contractor or engineering consultancy environment.

Required skills

• Hazard identification techniques: HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessment, LOPA, Bowtie analysis.
• Fire and explosion risk assessment, fire‑gas detection, fire protection, hazardous area classification, passive fire protection, blast protection, deluge and ventilation systems.
• Emergency shutdown, escape and evacuation planning, emergency response studies.
