Post-Doctoral Associate – Geotechnical Engineering (SHORES)

About the role

The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a Post‑Doctoral Associate to advance research on resilient geotechnical systems. The role involves centrifuge modeling, laboratory testing, and numerical simulations to enhance understanding of soil behavior for infrastructure, energy, and sustainability applications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests to support the experimental program.
• Plan, design, conduct, and analyze centrifuge model experiments.
• Contribute to the design and development of experimental setups and apparatus, with SolidWorks experience considered an advantage.
• Publish research findings in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals and collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team.

Required profile

• PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field, obtained within the last 5 years.
• Research experience in geotechnical laboratory testing, soil characterization, and mechanical testing.
• Experience with centrifuge experimental modeling, including test design, execution, instrumentation, and data interpretation.
