Power Electronic Design Engineer (Engineer II, SIL)

About the role

EDGE is seeking an Engineer II (SIL) to lead power electronic design for automotive and defense applications. The role involves designing, simulating, and testing power conversion devices and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop DC/DC, DC/AC converters, SMPS, inverters and motor drives.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics or KiCAD.
• Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and project plans.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to integrate electrical systems and ensure standard compliance.
• Prototype, test, troubleshoot and validate hardware throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 7‑10 years of experience in power electronics hardware development, preferably in automotive or defense.
• Hands‑on workbench mindset with ability to operate under high‑pressure, fast‑paced environments.
• Experience with systematic failure analysis and EMI/EMC compliance.

Required skills

• Power conversion design (DC/DC, DC/AC, SMPS, inverters, motor drives).
• Electronic CAD tools: Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics, KiCAD.
• Electronic hardware lifecycle knowledge – concept, design, manufacturing, testing, validation.
• EMI/EMC design practices and automotive/industrial compliance.
• Firmware development and reverse engineering of electronic hardware.
• Standards: IPC‑2220, IPC‑A‑600, IPC‑6012B, IPC‑A‑610 and MIL‑STD equivalents.
• System‑level design and troubleshooting of electronic hardware.
