Power Plant Manager

About the role

An experienced, results-driven Power Plant Manager is sought to oversee the overall operation, maintenance and performance of power generation facilities. The successful candidate ensures safe, reliable and efficient plant operations, optimizes operational costs, manages technical teams and implements strategies to improve availability, productivity and long-term performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily power plant operations to ensure reliable, efficient and uninterrupted power generation.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, maintenance plans and performance improvement initiatives.
• Monitor plant performance, equipment reliability, energy efficiency, fuel consumption and operating costs.
• Lead operations, maintenance, engineering and technical teams to achieve operational targets.
• Plan preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment failures and downtime.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality and operational standards.
• Manage operating budgets, manpower planning, procurement, spare parts and contractor performance.
• Investigate equipment failures, troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor KPIs and prepare operational and financial reports for senior management.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and engineering teams, lead emergency preparedness and incident investigations, and support upgrades, refurbishments and commissioning.
• Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, cost control, environmental performance and asset management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Power Engineering or a related technical field.
• Extensive experience in power plant operations, maintenance, engineering or technical management.
• Proven experience managing plant personnel, operational budgets, maintenance programs and equipment reliability.
• Strong knowledge of power generation systems, plant equipment, control systems and maintenance strategies.
• Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to handle complex technical operations and operational emergencies.
• Strong project management, communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Excellent written and spoken English; professional certifications or advanced technical qualifications are an advantage.
