Principal Engineer – Piping

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Principal Engineer – Piping to lead a multidisciplinary team in the detailed engineering of large‑scale projects. You will own the full design lifecycle from concept through detailed design, ensuring technical compliance, cost control and schedule adherence.

Key responsibilities

• Review Invitation‑to‑Bid documents, issue inquiries, evaluate vendor offers and prepare equipment, material and man‑hour estimates.
• Analyse contract requirements, compile the Technical Document Register and verify specifications, PDS, PMS, P&ID, GA drawings and related documents.
• Define the optimal work route, scope of supply and engineering schedule, allocating manpower and tracking deliverables.
• Coordinate with project planning to set and meet target completion dates.
• Develop manpower charts, assign resources across layout, material, stress and 3D modelling activities and recommend cost‑saving measures.
• Supervise stress analysis reports using CAESAR II and ensure 3D models and isometrics are up‑to‑date.
• Provide stress and piping load data to civil engineering, resolve design irregularities and support cross‑discipline inputs.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams on large piping projects.
• Strong knowledge of contract review, technical documentation and procurement processes.
• Ability to plan, schedule and control engineering resources and man‑hours.
• Excellent coordination skills with multidisciplinary disciplines.
