Principal Engineer - System

About the role

EdgeAt EDGE is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the design, development and integration of tactical datalink and C4I solutions. The role supports the full systems‑engineering lifecycle for national, international or coalition defence projects, including NATO‑standard systems such as Link‑16.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Message Standards protocols team and design large‑scale C4I and tactical datalink solutions.
• Define information‑exchange requirements and user experience for C4I systems.
• Develop interoperability across standards and interfaces (Link‑16, MIP, VMF, FFT, ADATP‑3, etc.).
• Support the entire systems‑engineering lifecycle from concept through integration, verification, validation and delivery.
• Maintain engineering documentation (SS/SSS, IRS/ICDs, integration plans, test procedures/reports) and coordinate with software, hardware, network, cybersecurity and test teams.
• Identify risks and engage with customers and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Software, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of systems‑engineering experience in defence, aerospace or mission‑critical environments.
• Proven experience on defence development programmes or large‑scale integrated systems.
• Strong understanding of systems‑engineering methodologies, lifecycle processes and requirements management.
