Principal Engineer - Systems Integration

About the role

EDGE Group’s KATIM division is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the integration of complex defence communications and command‑and‑control (C2) systems. You will work across air, land, maritime and joint environments, ensuring seamless hardware, software and network interoperability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead system integration activities for advanced Defence Communications and C2 solutions.
• Integrate hardware, software, networks and infrastructure across multiple domains.
• Define and manage system interfaces, interoperability and interface control documentation.
• Conduct integration testing, troubleshoot defects and drive operational readiness.
• Support platform integration trials, field deployments, customer demonstrations and interoperability testing.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, cybersecurity, networking, customers, suppliers and platform teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in systems engineering or integration within defence, aerospace, security or other mission‑critical environments.
• Proven track record of integrating complex hardware, software and distributed systems.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and operational platforms.

Required skills

• Defence Communications, C2/C4ISR, Tactical Data Links, Mission Systems.
• Networking concepts: TCP/IP, UDP, routing, messaging, OSI‑layer communications.
• System interoperability, interface management, Systems‑of‑Systems integration.
• MATLAB and Simulink for test and simulation.
• Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and secure communications standards.
