Principal ESIA Consultant – Environmental & Social Impact

About the role

SLR Consulting is seeking a Principal ESIA Consultant to lead and manage Environmental and Social Impact Assessment projects across the Middle East, Africa and international markets. The role requires extensive experience with international lender standards and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams from project inception to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage multidisciplinary ESIA projects, acting as Project Director or Technical Lead.
• Ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank ESS and other DFI requirements.
• Coordinate specialist teams covering biodiversity, air quality, noise, climate change, water, marine and cultural heritage.
• Oversee environmental permitting, regulatory approvals and stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.
• Drive continuous improvement of technical methodologies, quality systems and knowledge sharing within the International E&S team.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental consulting, impact assessment or E&S advisory services.
• Proven track record managing ESIA projects for international lenders and DFIs.
• Broad sector experience in renewable energy, desalination, power generation, infrastructure, water and transport.
• Strong project management capability, including programme, budget and commercial management.
• Fluent written and spoken English and willingness to travel internationally.
