Principal Marine Operations Specialist NDT Lead

About the role

The Principal Marine Operations Specialist NDT Lead ensures seamless integration of advanced NDT techniques throughout pipeline projects, safeguarding weld integrity and supporting offshore installation efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced NDT procedures and calibration blocks for pipeline welding activities.
• Liaise with operations managers, discipline managers, customers, QC/NDT engineers, certifying authorities and NDT subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in the bidding process, reviewing specifications, identifying qualification requirements and providing NDT inputs for cycle times and lay rates.
• Manage project set‑up, planning and readiness, including welder qualification, material estimation and procedure approval.
• Control NDT budget, monitor consumable usage and ensure cost‑effective execution.
• Supervise offshore pipeline fabrication and installation, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, HSE and quality procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, NDT Technology or related field.
• Minimum 10 years NDT/AUT experience, at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Certifications such as ISO 9712, PCN, CSWIP or ASNT Level III preferred.
• Valid BOSIET, HUET and offshore medical certificate.
• Experience working on pipelay vessels, lay barges or similar offshore assets.

Required skills

• Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Time‑of‑Flight Diffraction (TOFD).
• Zonal Discrimination and other AUT techniques.
• MUT, MPI and LPT inspection methods.
• Use of ES Beam, TomoScan, UltraVision, FocusScan and PipeWizard software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer‑based preparation tools.
