Principal Operations Engineer

About the role

The Principal Operations Engineer will lead complex offshore operations, ensuring engineering and installation procedures meet McDermott standards while delivering projects safely and efficiently. This senior position requires deep expertise in operations within the fabrication function and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve installation procedures and engineering documents to ensure compliance with project and company standards.
• Supervise field engineers in planning, execution, and material list preparation for offshore projects.
• Resolve technical issues during offshore installation and coordinate corrective actions.
• Coordinate with fabrication/loadout contractors and provide marine support equipment and logistics assistance.
• Develop scopes of work, assist in subcontract awards, and manage inter‑function coordination across engineering, SCM, detail design, fabrication, and hook‑up.
• Monitor project fabrication progress, resource needs, and budget adherence in partnership with the Construction Manager.
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in offshore operations and fabrication engineering.
• Proven ability to lead functional teams and manage large‑scale projects.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret business issues and recommend best practices.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
