Principal Piping Designer

About the role

The Principal Piping Designer will lead the piping design discipline for offshore platform projects, ensuring high‑quality deliverables that meet safety, constructability and budget requirements. Working within McDermott’s established procedures, the role combines technical expertise with team leadership to drive successful project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review 3D piping models, guaranteeing clash‑free coordination with all disciplines.
• Approve drawings, plot plans and documentation in line with project specifications and McDermott procedures.
• Lead the design team, set priorities, forecast resource needs and ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Act as the primary discipline contact for clients, vendors and subcontractors, managing inter‑disciplinary communication and change management.
• Support the Lead Piping Engineer in progress tracking, productivity measurement and issue resolution.
• Coordinate 3D model reviews, close review comments and maintain alignment with the project scope, schedule and specifications.
• Contribute to plant layout narratives and provide input on design and constructability considerations.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years (120 months) of piping design experience, primarily on offshore platforms.
• Demonstrated experience working with ADNOC or similar Gulf‑region clients.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, lead multidisciplinary teams and propose process improvements.
• Strong understanding of construction, safety, quality standards and McDermott’s design practices.
