Principal Software Engineer (UAE National)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the Group Business Services (GBS) team at ADCB. The role will drive the design, development and delivery of secure, scalable and high‑performance applications that support the bank’s digital transformation and customer experience initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design, implementation and technical artefacts for technology lifecycles in line with ADCB engineering standards.
• Build and implement standard, repeatable design patterns, components and technology solutions to meet business objectives and ensure security, scalability, reliability and performance.
• Maintain and share current technology trends, mentor engineers and promote best‑practice adoption.
• Guide a data‑driven approach, produce reporting and insights to maximise performance.
• Oversee coordination with external vendors to ensure services meet agreed SLAs and TATs, and manage remediation plans.
• Define architecture, integration, deployment and data‑flow strategies across platforms.
• Lead technical workshops with business, operations, product owners, vendors and technology teams.
• Collaborate with solution architects and vendors to enhance ADCB capabilities and address technical debt.
• Manage self and team according to ADCB people‑management policies to maximise contribution.
• Research, evaluate and implement innovative technology solutions to drive automation and operational efficiency.
• Design, develop and maintain scalable, secure, high‑performing applications leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) across desktop and mobile platforms.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a complex, regulated environment.
• Strong architectural and design expertise with a focus on security, scalability and performance.
• Ability to mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including coordination with vendors and cross‑functional teams.
• Data‑driven mindset with experience delivering actionable insights and reporting.
