Principal Systems Engineer - Landing Gear

About the role

The Principal Systems Engineer – Landing Gear will lead the technical design, integration and lifecycle management of landing‑gear systems for UAV and aerospace platforms. This senior position combines deep landing‑gear expertise with full‑system engineering responsibilities, ensuring safety, performance and regulatory compliance throughout development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design and integration of landing‑gear systems, defining requirements and technical baselines.
• Develop and manage mechanical, hydraulic and electrical interfaces with structure, avionics and control systems.
• Conduct sizing, trade‑off studies and analyses (static, dynamic, fatigue, landing loads).
• Manage system safety activities, including FHA, FMEA and PSSA/PSA.
• Create verification and validation plans, support ground and flight testing, and produce test reports.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace, defence and airworthiness standards and oversee certification activities.
• Technically manage suppliers, review designs, qualification evidence and monitor technical risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 15+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience, including 8+ years in landing‑gear design or integration.
• Experience on UAV, aircraft or rotorcraft programmes and safety‑critical system development.
• Fluent English; willingness to relocate to the UAE and obtain UAE defence/security clearance.

Required skills

• CATIA or SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS or ADAMS.
• DOORS or equivalent requirements‑management tools.
• Knowledge of V‑model, MBSE, system safety analyses (FHA, FMEA, PSSA/PSA).
• Familiarity with aerospace standards such as ARP4754, ARP4761, DO‑160, DO‑254, MIL‑STD‑810H, AS9100, GCAA and EASA.
• Experience with configuration/PLM tools (Teamcenter, Windchill, ARAS) and supplier technical management.
