Principal Technician - Engine Disassembly

About the role

The Principal Technician is a key leader in the Aero Engine MRO division's Engine Operations department, acting as an Approval Holder. The role leads a team responsible for engine disassembly, assembly and inspection, ensuring strict compliance with approved technical data and the highest Quality and Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) standards. It covers the full engine management process, including gated engine processes and regulatory compliance, and supports training, resource management, customer service and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all engine operations, ensuring strict adherence to aviation and HS&E regulations (50%).
• Promote ethical behaviour, raise concerns about inappropriate conduct and encourage honest feedback as an Approval Holder (25%).
• Manage resources to support the engine management process and work with supervisors to develop technician skills (15%).
• Implement improvement plans using LEAN tools to address variances from business plans and improve customer satisfaction (5%).
• Ensure quality standards and compliance requirements are met throughout all activities (5%).

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years in the technical aviation or MRO industry, including at least 1 year in first-line management.
• High school diploma with vocational or technical training in aviation, aeronautical engineering or MRO-related fields.
• D3 level authorization or equivalent certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong leadership, team-building, compliance oversight, problem-solving, decision-making and time-management abilities.
