Procurement Agent Engineer

About the role

ByteDance’s Corporate Information department is building an AI‑native procurement platform. As a Procurement Agent Engineer you will design, develop and operate intelligent agents that automate complex procurement workflows for employees worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of Procurement Agents and the underlying System AI Harness, from architecture through production and continuous iteration.
• Design and build core backend services, business logic, data flows and integrations that support AI‑driven procurement, ensuring scalability, performance and operational stability.
• Lead the productionisation of AI Agent capabilities such as planning, tool use, memory, multi‑step reasoning and orchestration, turning LLM research into reliable features.
• Rapidly prototype and evaluate emerging AI techniques, converting proven approaches into platform standards.
• Collaborate with product, design and cross‑functional teams to solve ambiguous, high‑impact problems and ship end‑to‑end solutions.
• Drive continuous improvements in reliability, performance and code quality through systematic analysis and engineering excellence.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong background in building large‑scale backend systems and services.
• Experience with AI/ML projects, especially large language model (LLM) applications.
• Ability to work independently and mentor teammates.
