Product Engineering Lead (QVAC) – Remote

About the role

Tether is building QV.AC, a privacy‑preserving AI assistant that runs locally on users' devices. As the Product Engineering Lead you will turn product vision into reliable on‑device features, guiding multiple feature teams and ensuring high‑quality delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead app and feature teams day‑to‑day, removing blockers, reviewing code and keeping delivery on schedule.
• Set and enforce engineering standards for performance, reliability and clean API design between the AI core and the app.
• Own technical design of features and the API surface, collaborating closely with AI research and deep‑tech teams.
• Partner with product managers to translate roadmap into scoped, buildable work and push back when scope and reality diverge.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing engineers or leads who ship consumer products, preferably AI‑powered apps.
• Strong product sense with the ability to evaluate feature value versus complexity.
• Intuition for on‑device AI constraints such as model size, latency, memory and battery usage.
• Hands‑on use of AI tools and experimentation with new models.

Required skills

• Deep JavaScript development.
• React framework expertise.
• Experience with on‑device inference, LLM evaluation or cross‑platform mobile/desktop apps (preferred).
• Familiarity with AI tooling and local model deployment.
