Project Controls Manager

About the role

The Project Controls Manager will lead the delivery of project controls functions—including cost management, planning, EPCM control, and reporting—for large multi‑discipline EPCM projects in mining, energy and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Set up project cost and schedule baselines, coding, and control systems using feasibility studies, contracts and checklists.
• Manage capital cost estimating across all AACE classes, review and approve estimate plans, and forecast remaining work.
• Measure project progress and performance through earned value, KPI monitoring and periodic status reports.
• Lead and mentor the Project Controls team, ensuring training, skill development and adherence to Hatch procedures.
• Implement trend and change management processes and report project performance to senior management.

Required profile

• Engineering or related tertiary qualification with at least ten years of project environment experience.
• Five years in a managerial position overseeing cost control, planning and quantity surveying.
• Experience on high‑value, multi‑discipline EPCM projects from inception to close‑out.

• Capital cost estimating (AACE Class 5‑1)
• Project coding, Commodity Breakdown Structure (CBS) and control system set‑up
• Quantity surveying principles and progress payment verification
• Proficiency with MS Office suite
• Professional certifications such as AACE or PMP (preferred)
