Project Director – Infrastructure

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Project Director to lead delivery of major highways, bridges and infrastructure programmes in Dubai, primarily for the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The role provides overall leadership, contractual and commercial management, and ensures delivery excellence aligned with client and company objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall project delivery from inception to completion, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety.
• Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Control Plan and other key documentation.
• Act as primary client interface for contractual, technical and commercial matters.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams across design, construction and project controls.
• Negotiate scope changes, variation orders and contractual amendments; monitor performance against KPIs and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee procurement, subcontractor management and drive value engineering to optimise lifecycle cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (BSc, BEng, or MEng).
• Chartered status or membership of a recognised professional institution (e.g., MICE, MCIOB, MRICS) preferred.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 20 years experience managing large‑scale infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges and urban road networks.
• At least 5–10 years direct experience on Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) projects.
• Proven track record delivering projects valued over AED 1 billion.
• Strong commercial and contract management experience, including claims and negotiations.
