Protection & Control Field Engineer

About the role

The Protection & Control Field Engineer will lead end‑to‑end execution of protection, conventional control and monitoring & diagnostics projects in high‑voltage substations. The role involves on‑site installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex hardware and software, acting as the primary technical liaison for clients, utilities and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test and commission protection relays, busbar protection, CCS, SCMS and LCC equipment on site.
• Interpret OEM schematics, wiring diagrams and PLD drawings, and provide technical direction to construction teams.
• Perform CT/VT adequacy checks, relay setting verification, IEC61850 signal mapping and cybersecurity implementation.
• Plan and allocate resources, manage project workloads to maintain a high billable ratio and stay within budget.
• Prepare field service reports, timesheets, red‑line drawings and respond to consultant or customer comments.
• Ensure compliance with EHS guidelines and GE Vernova quality standards through rigorous testing and validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of field experience with HV substation protection and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of protection and busbar philosophy, CCS and SCMS.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to travel 100 % across the region.

Required skills

• Proficiency with protection relay software (GE, MiCOM) and test kits (Omicron, Megger).
• Experience in IEC61850 signal mapping and cybersecurity requirements.
• Ability to read and implement schematics, cable schedules and Bill of Materials.
• Advanced computer literacy (MS Office, Project Management tools, ServiceMax or similar).
