Protection Relay Programming & Testing Engineer (MV/LV)

About the role

Vertiv is looking for a Protection Relay Programming & Testing Engineer in Dubai to work on MV and LV protection systems. The ideal candidate handles the complete lifecycle of a protection system, from relay programming and setting implementation to commissioning, testing and final validation.

Key responsibilities

• Program, configure, test and commission protection relays for MV and LV systems, and troubleshoot protection and control systems
• Perform secondary injection testing, functional testing, trip testing, interlock verification and end-to-end protection testing
• Verify relay settings against approved protection coordination studies and prepare relay setting files, test procedures, test reports and commissioning reports
• Integrate protection relays with PLC, RTU, SCADA, EPMS/BMS and other supervisory systems, and carry out communication testing
• Review communication architecture drawings, network topology, I/O and signal lists, and communication matrices

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering
• 7-12 years of experience in protection relay programming, testing, commissioning and protection/control systems
• Predominant experience with MV switchgear, control and relay panels and electrical protection systems
• Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning, site testing and final validation of MV/LV protection systems
• Experience in MV switchgear manufacturing, system integration, protection engineering, testing and commissioning is strongly preferred

Required skills

• Protection relays: ABB, Siemens and Schneider Electric (ABB Relion, Siemens SIPROTEC, Schneider Easergy/SEPAM)
• Protocols: Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, Profinet, IEC 61850 (GOOSE, MMS, SCL)
• Industrial communication networks, network switches, VLANs, IP addressing and network redundancy
• OMICRON or equivalent relay test equipment is highly preferred
