QHSE Officer

About the role

The QHSE Officer will audit, train, and guide teams to establish a culture of safety and operational excellence. The ideal candidate identifies workplace hazards, maintains ISO certifications, and ensures compliance with environmental laws to protect employees and the business.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) daily.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of high‑risk tasks such as confined space entries, work at heights, lifting operations and hot works.
• Lead incident investigations using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or TapRooT and ensure corrective actions are tracked.
• Manage emergency response protocols and coordinate drills for gas leaks, blowouts, oil spills and medical evacuations.
• Maintain ISO certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 29001) and monitor environmental metrics including chemical storage, hazardous waste disposal and spill containment.
• Audit asset integrity of safety‑critical equipment such as gas detection systems, emergency shutdown valves and fire suppression systems.
• Track QHSE performance indicators, compile daily safety metrics and produce monthly compliance reports.

Required profile

• NEBOSH International Diploma or IGC (Grade A/B) certification.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• Bosiet / Foet certification (if offshore).
• Minimum 5 years of safety experience in upstream (drilling/offshore) or downstream (refinery/petrochemical) oil‑and‑gas operations.

Required skills

• Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) system implementation.
• Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA).
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and TapRooT methodologies.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 29001 standards.
• Experience with gas detection, emergency shutdown (ESD) valves and fire suppression systems.
