Quality Control Inspector (QCI) - Civil

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is hiring a full-time Quality Control Inspector (QCI) for civil works in Abu Dhabi. The inspector checks that civil and structural activities meet approved project specifications, standards and the Inspection and Test Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect civil and structural activities such as excavation, formwork, rebar placement, concrete, finishing and backfilling.
• Verify that materials and workmanship comply with approved project specifications, standards and the ITP.
• Review and verify civil work procedures, method statements and checklists before execution, and confirm that approved drawings and their latest revisions are used on site.
• Witness and document quality control tests such as slump, cube and compaction tests.
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective action records.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering and QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (ASTM, ACI, BS, ISO) and client specifications.
• Take part in internal and external audits and help close audit findings.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and support continuous improvement of quality systems and site processes.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience as a Civil QCI on EPC or construction projects, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical or industrial sectors, early civil works, concrete works, road and compaction activities.
• Familiarity with project specifications, QA/QC procedures, ITPs and method statements.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, BS and ISO standards and understanding of the EPC project lifecycle.
