Quantity Surveyor – Water Distribution Projects

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on commercial and contract administration for water distribution network projects across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, ensuring that completed works are measured and certified against pre‑agreed rates.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of contractual setup, project scope and BOQ definition practices.
• Generate and review project BOQs, prepare detailed cost estimates from specifications and drawings.
• Measure and verify completed quantities against contract documents and agreed rates.
• Support Resident Engineers in reviewing and approving contractor monthly invoices.
• Quantify variations, assist with claim submission and review related to BOQ items.
• Monitor material and BOQ expenditure, analyse cost variances and contribute to monthly project reports.
• Maintain payment, variation and claims registers and aid cash‑flow forecasting.
• Perform site visits to validate compliance with BOQ requirements and report progress to discipline engineers.
• Support final account preparation, retention release and commercial close‑out.

Required profile

• Minimum Engineering degree in Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• At least 7 years of construction industry experience, preferably on electricity and water projects.
• Strong understanding of BOQ practices, rate‑based contract measurement and certification.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and industry standards with solid contractual awareness.
• Excellent quantitative, analytical and negotiation skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work full‑time on a six‑day onsite schedule.
