Registered Nurse – OPD Ophthalmology

About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care in the Outpatient Department (OPD) of Ophthalmology, ensuring patient safety and high‑quality service throughout assessment, treatment and follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient needs, develop and monitor individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and the inter‑professional team.
• Perform systematic patient assessments, record vital signs, and promptly escalate any abnormalities.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products and provide wound‑care management.
• Assist with ophthalmic procedures such as YAG laser, fluorescein angiography, minor surgeries, IPL therapy and corneal foreign body removal.
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments and emergency surgeries, and ensure safe admission, transfer and discharge.

Required profile

• Valid registered nurse license issued by the UAE health authority and current Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to work across departments, on‑call as needed, and demonstrate excellent observation and critical‑thinking skills.
• Commitment to maintain professional re‑licensure and adhere to evidence‑based practice.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) provider.
• Proficiency with ophthalmic equipment: YAG laser, fluorescein angiography, IPL, PRP laser.
• Experience performing minor ophthalmic surgeries and procedures (e.g., chalazion excision, punctum plug insertion, corneal sutures removal).
• Capability to conduct ECG and manage IV therapy.
