Registered Nurse – Pediatric ICU

About the role
Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) registered nurses provide critical care to infants and children up to fifteen years old, delivering round‑the‑clock care and supporting parents throughout the treatment journey.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a high standard of evidence‑based care to PICU patients.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs on an ongoing basis.
- Formulate nursing care plans and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Manage Level 3 critical care, including advanced airway management, ventilation, invasive line management, inotropic support, CVVHDF and critical emergencies.
- Provide effective pain management, including PCA/PCE.
- Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases (ABG).
- Apply infection control principles at all times.
- Assist physicians in PICU medical procedures.
- Comfort and support anxious parents, providing clear updates on care plans and patient condition.
- Review physician‑ordered medications for appropriateness and administer them using aseptic technique.
- Operate specialized equipment such as ventilators, nitric oxide machines, cerebral function monitors, and therapeutic cooling machines.
- Safely manage central and arterial lines.
- Provide accurate and regular updates to patients and relatives.
- Adhere to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines and all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Valid UAE Medical Health Authority nursing license.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (minimum two‑year program) and registration as a RN in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
- Minimum two years of recent hospital or similar clinical experience.
- Current resuscitation certification and ongoing CPD.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (MS Office) and strong communication skills.
Required skills
- Advanced airway management and mechanical ventilation.
- Invasive line (central and arterial) management.
- Inotropic support and CVVHDF.
- PCA/PCE pain management.
- ABG interpretation.
- Operation of ventilators, nitric oxide machines, cerebral function monitors, therapeutic cooling machines.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
